New Patient Appointments

What To Expect

Choosing Cherry Creek Neurology means having a specialized and attentive team with the goal of restoring your health.

As a new patient, you will meet with a member of our team to gather information about your health history and present condition.

Then you will meet with Dr. Ament for an initial evaluation and physical examination, so he can get a thorough understanding of your situation. He will review your medical history and ask many questions about your symptoms and current problems. Dr. Ament will also review your previous treatments, testing, medical history, and any additional concerns you may have.

Once you and the doctor establish a strong understanding of your medical condition, Dr. Ament will design a plan of care personalized to your needs. Our office staff will then communicate this plan with your entire team - including your current doctors, as well as any potential new providers or specialists - so that everyone is on the same page, and you can focus on getting better.

Preparing For Your Visit

In advance of your appointment with us, a member of our team will contact you. We will help you know what to expect, gather information we need to better serve you, and ensure you feel fully prepared for your visit.

What To Bring

It is helpful to bring the following with you to your appointment:
  • A list of questions and concerns: To be sure we give you all the answers we can, please bring a written list of your questions and concerns.
  • A friend or family member: While not a requirement, you might find it helpful to have someone come with you to your appointment. They can be helpful in remembering everything you wanted to ask and share, and in keeping track of what was said during the appointment. You are welcome to bring a spouse, significant other, confidante, translator, or friend.
  • Medical records: If you have copies, please bring any available medical records that relate to your condition. These might include copies of pertinent procedure/surgery notes and test results. If you do not have copies of your records, we will request records for you.
  • Current medications: It is very important that we develop a current and accurate list of all your medications, including dosage, frequency, and prescribing doctor. Please be prepared to share all over-the-counter medications and supplements you may be taking. Many patients find it helpful to simply bring the medication bottles.
  • Allergies: If you have any known allergies, please be prepared to let us know about any drug or other substances that cause reactions for you.

At Your Next Visit

Dr. Ament will review you you the status of your neurological symptoms in detail, such as headache, neck pain, arm, and leg symptoms - anything that you and he discussed at the last visit. If there are new issues, please be sure to tell him. He will want to know if your symptoms are improving and what issues may still be troubling you. By taking a few moments to think these things through ahead of time, you'll be able to get the most benefit from your upcoming visit.
Medications:
  • Did you take the medications that were recommended? Are you still taking them?
  • Did you start any new medications prescribed by other doctors? (It is okay to do this, we just need to be up to date with your plan)
  • Did you stop any old medications?
  • Any new allergies?
Testing:
  • Did you have any X-rays, CTs, MRIs or other imaging performed since your last visit?
  • Did you have any lab tests done since your last visit?
Provider Visits:
  • What other providers have you seen since the last visit to us? (examples: physical therapy, chiropractic, primary care, massage, acupuncture, pain doctor, dentist, ophthalmologist, etc.?)
  • Have you been to the ER or Urgent Care?
  • Do you have any newly diagnosed medical conditions?

Things to Bring to Your Next Visit

Diary: If you have been keeping a diary of symptoms, daily activities, progress in your recovery, and use of medications, please bring that diary with you.
Visits with other healthcare providers: If you have any information regarding visits with other healthcare providers, imaging studies, sleep studies or laboratory tests, please bring them with you.
A friend or family member: It can be a good idea to invite a family member, loved one, or caretaker to join you for your visit with us. Their perspective and information about your recovery can often be very valuable. They may also be able to help you remember our recommendations regarding your course of recovery.
Medications: Please bring the best information you can regarding any medications, supplements, and over the counter medications that you have been taking. Bringing your prescription medication containers can be very helpful, as we need to know not only the name of the medication, but also the dosage and frequency associated with them.
Allergies: If you have any known allergies, please be prepared to let us know about any drugs or other substances that cause reactions to you. If you suspect that you may be having a reaction to any medications prescribed by Cherry Creek Neurology or any other healthcare provider, please contact us immediately at (303) 834-5677.
